Education is freedom.
That is why we work with school systems in our service territory to assist in providing a quality education to our young people.
Through the Adopt-A-School grant program, we help school systems enhance the learning experience by purchasing needed resources, such as books, computers, software, electronic equipment, updating their libraries, or purchasing equipment that will make the school and grounds safer.
Adopt-A-School is a program created by VVEC personnel over 20 years ago. Each year school system representatives are invited to submit an application for funds from this program. They are asked to detail what they want to purchase and the cost, and how students will benefit from their request, if granted.
Our program personnel review the applications and decide how many requests the program can grant based on the funds available that year.
Once the request is granted, the school systems have a specific amount of time to make their purchases.
Partnering with our school systems to enhance students’ learning experiences is part of being a good neighbor.
