Through a partnership with our wholesale power supplier, Associated Electric Cooperative, VVEC offers a rebate program designed to make it easier for our members to purchase energy efficient appliances. VVEC strives to keep electric service affordable and this rebate program is one way to help members enjoy the benefits of some of the most energy efficient products available in the marketplace.
Electric water heaters for new construction or conversion from gas water heaters, and with an energy factor of .90 or greater, are rebated up to $199 if purchased elsewhere, or the full price, (less taxes) if purchased from VVEC.
We also offer rebates of $50 for replacement units when the old unit has less than a .90 efficiency rate, and the new unit is equal to or exceeds the .90 rating. All electric water heaters must have an Energy Star® rating.
Rebate applications need to be submitted to our Member Services department within 90 days of the purchase date to be eligible for a rebate. Water heaters purchased for new construction or conversion from gas water heating must be verified by VVEC after installation.
Tankless water heaters and hybrid heat pump water heaters are not eligible for the rebate program. No rebates on replacement units for services that use LESS than 6,000 kwh per year. Replacement unit rebates also limited to 40-gallon or larger tanks. Other restrictions may apply.
Air-to-air, or air-source heat pumps, (with electric resistance backup) will be rebated at $150 per ton for new construction installation (must also have an electric water heater) or for gas to electric conversion only. Heat pumps must meet a minimum SEER rating of 16.5, be installed and verified within 90 days of purchase date to qualify for a rebate. Replacement units are not eligible for rebates.
Dual-fuel heat pumps (using natural gas, propane or fuel oil for supplemental heating) will be rebated at $150 per ton for new construction, replacement of existing electric resistance or dual-fuel heating systems, or for the replacement of gas heat. The heat pump must have an automatic thermostat controlled fuel back-up system, and a minimum SEER rating of 16.5 to be eligible. Rebate applications must be submitted to the co-op within 90 days of purchase and may be subject to verification.
Mini-split heat pumps will be rebated at $150 per ton for new construction, replacement of existing electric resistance or dual-fuel heating systems, or for the replacement of gas heat. The heat pump must have a minimum SEER rating of 16.5 to be eligible. Rebate applications must be submitted to the co-op within 90 days of purchase and may be subject to verification. Mini-split units with back-up electric resistant heat are not eligible for a rebate.
Geo-thermal or ground-source heat pumps, having an EER rating of 19.1 or higher, may also be eligible for rebates. A rebate of $300 per ton (maximum of 10 tons) is available for new construction (an electric water heater is also required) or gas conversions. Units must be installed within 90 days of the purchase date and verified by VVEC. Replacement units will be rebated at $150 per ton, but must meet the EER criteria listed above and be a gain of at least 3 EER ratings from the old unit. Replacing an air-source heat pump with a ground-source heat pump meeting the above requirements may also qualify for a $150 per ton rebate.
Room air conditioners. A $50 rebate is available on room air conditioners with an Energy Star® rating. In order to qualify for the rebate, the member must complete a rebate application and return it to VVEC with a copy of the sales receipt within 90 days of the purchase date. NO REBATE for Room Air Conditioners for services that use LESS than 6,000 kwh per year.
