Legislative Issues

Representing your concerns with our state and national legislatures is a vital responsibility of your board of trustees and co-op management. Working with the Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives (OAEC) and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) we are knowledgeable of proposed legislation and work to make certain our elected officials are well-informed on how that legislation can impact cooperatives and their members.

We also provide a united voice and work to develop strategic alliances to effectively deal with state and national issues that affect the electric utility industry.

OAEC assists electric cooperatives across Oklahoma in doing collectively and cooperatively what we cannot economically or politically do alone. OAEC is an invaluable and economically feasible tool VVEC and other Oklahoma cooperatives use in fulfilling our mission.

NRECA is the national organization dedicated to representing the interests of electrical cooperatives and the consumers they serve. Its home page provides news on legislation and other issues relating to rural electric cooperatives.
